Comments about the '09 SF Vets Parade:) from Dennis:) Greetings All. Thank you, thank you, thank you to all those who made it to
yesterday's annual SF Veterans' Day Parade. We had a great turn out
although we certainly missed some of our FilAm bros, our JDLC friends, the
Road Pirates and the Mestizos. Well, like we always say, "There is always
a next year".
We started our day in Emeryville for some breakfast and exchanges of
pleasantries. From there, we rode accross the Bay to SF where we met up
with some of our friends from Daly City. PR USA was represented by Sonny
Leonardo and friends. Unfortunately, they had to break off just before we
made it to the end of the line since they still had a long ride home to the
Los Angeles area. Thank you very much, Sonny. After the parade, we took
some much needed break from the heat (our bikes deserved some much needed
break as well). After the break, the Daly City gang headed south while we
went north on Highway 101 stopping by the Golden Gate bridge vista point
for another Kodak moment. From there, we continued on northbound, going accross the Richmond/San
Rafael bridge to a chinese buffett restaurant in Richmond where a feast
awaited our arrival. I thought Max was never going to leave the place.
Again, thank you all for helping honor our defenders. The men and women
in uniform who give their lives unconditionally to ensure America's
freedom. You all have a wonderful week.
Cheers, Dennis 11-09-09
(from Nando) Everyone,
I had such a great time and the weather was just right for the parade. I
couldn't believe it was so sunny and warm. Man, I was burning up.
It was truly a wonderful time to get together, to see old friends and meet
new friends. It's a blessing to be part of the Annual Mayor's Veteran's Day
parade and to be a fellow Fil Am Rider.
Most interesting was our short ride across the Golden Gate Bridge. That
was really awesome for me, to ride for the first time a motorcycle over
this California landmark. I remember back in 1987. Twenty two years ago, I
rode across this bridge in a bicycle with a girlfriend that lived in San
Francisco. It was the 50th Anniversary of the Golden Gate Bridge. Coming
back across, I had a flat tire. There was thousands of people packed like
sardine's on the bridge that day. I had to dump my bike over the side. That
was the last time I was on this bridge.
I have a lot of memories of San Francisco. It has always been someplace very special in my heart.
Anyway, my complements to the selection of the all you can eat place in
Richmond.
That was a good choice in the restaurant. The food was so delicious, I kept
going back for more. Hope we eat there again next year. For sure, let's all
see each other again in next years SF Veterans Day Parade. It is a day to
honor our troops & the Manong Generation's 1st & 2nd Filipino Infantry
Regiments of WWII. Special thanks to all who put together this special
occasion for us to attend & participate. May next years event be bigger and
wonderful like last Sunday's.

(from Sonny) Greetings Fil-Am Riders!
Although it was seemingly just a "quickie" being with you all, it was
really fun, and even though many were absentees from your crew, it was
great fun all the same. It was truly an honor to be a part of the
procession representing the Filipino fighting men of the 1st and 2nd
Filipino Infantry Regiments. Kudos to all of you for your continued
effort, dedication, and integrity, knowing your Harley would overheat in
extended idling. I salute you all!
Ride safe, and continue smiling. Sincerely, Sonny.
...Ooops! I forgot to tell you that the music slide video of our ride
around "fermented grape juice country" and the parade will be up and
running hopefully tonight in the PR USA website.
