The Reno Street Vibrations Biker Rally was great this year. Some took Highway 88 to Reno and saw fantastic scenic views. The trip back home to the bay area was not as great, with the construction and the heat, it was tough. We are looking forward to next year again. Some have already booked motel reservations. (Article from Norma after the Reno Run: Good Morning everyone, Did everyone get home safe? Hope you are all rested by now. What a wonderful trip, huh guys? I just want to thank you all for being patient with me. Knowing that I'm a little putt, putt, hanging around. LOL Next time, zroom, zroom, zroom....Here's my story telling... It gets dark early in the afternoon and it is still dark this morning at 6:20 AM. Fall weather is coming. Oh well, still more time to plan rides.... Friday, I arrived in Reno at 1:00 PM. When I met them at 9:00 in Stockton we ate breakfast for 1 1/2 hours. So it was running late and getting hotter in the day to travel. As soon as I arrived in Reno to check in, the riders came 2 hours later, boy they are fast taking Hwy 88, beautiful scenic route, windy, and they wanted me to meet up with them to unload my bike. They took a quick shower and right away wanted to ride to downtown. Luckily, I took a shower, rested for couple of hours. There was no wasting time, Tony was in the Army as a Capt. and he appeared to be like a drill sergeant. When I met them in the parking lot, they wanted to leave on time. Our meeting place was at the IHOP restaurant on S. Virginia Street, for everyone to meet up at. That's where the guys discussed their plans, Alex's group (Daly City) stayed in downtown area, Dennis's group (Hercules) stayed at Atlantis Casino, and Stockton were mixed at Quality Inn, and at Motel 6. Our hotel is about 2 miles from the strip. Atlantis is further south of Virginia Street 1 mile away from where we were staying. Our group kept together which is find because downtown was too crowded. Circus Circus parking lot was reserved for motorcycles up to 4 levels. That was a beautiful site to see, mostly Harley's. Downtown Virginia Street was blocked. The one way traffic rolled swiftly through. We rode 10 miles east downtown to eat at the best Prime Rib Restaurant recommended by a local resident. Later, we saw them in the restaurant eating next beside us. By the time we finished dinner, we went back to the strip, parked, and thousands of people Just standing there. All of a sudden the fireworks started, we were right under the fireworks. Just in time! Elvis Presley was there. But. We think Rudymeister is much more good looking then him, so he'll will be our next Elvis Presley. Then we walked in the Casinos, no one wanted to Gamble as we won't lose anybody. Rudy appeared thirsty for beer, so he suggested we all go back to the Hotel to relax, and Karaoke. So we did, and we even enjoyed ourselves better laughing, poor Nate couldn't stand my singing, LOL Someone back there in the restroom was howling like a wolf. LOL LOL With 2 bottles of mikes's hard pink lemonade, cold hard refreshing drink, that even got me feeling loose. So, I felt it's time about 1:00 AM to my room, slept like a bear, and woke up at 7:30 to go swimming in the pool. Hey, the guys are still asleep! Wow, another beautiful site around the premise of this 2 level Quality Inn hotel. Every ground floor had a Harley motorcycle parked in the patio area, even motorcycles parking in the swimming pool area. Like each mc had a bedroom. So, I took some pictures. Finally, the guys woke up. I heard they were up until 4:00 AM and had to meet at 9:00, when did they get to sleep, did they get a good sleep? I don't know, but they were ready to roll. No, Rudy and Roland, and Orlando wanted to stay back to sleep. LOLL We all met again at HOP to eat, but myself, Dennis, Tony, Max and Wife and Ante went for the ride in Carson City. Dennis looked out for me, it wasn't recommended that I ride my 250 as they go fast at 80 mph. Thank you Dennis. I felt so relieved not worrying about being a slow poke. I felt a big difference riding with Dennis once I heard his loud pipes roar, as the ride was so smooth. I was so relieved that I didn't have to burden anyone to worry about me. I could have done it by myself as the road is wide, but the riders are very berry fast.! Again, on our way back, we had only enough time to take an hour rest in our rooms, then we went straight to Atlantis Casino until I left at midnight. The other riders stayed back. Luckily, Sunday early morning, I met up with 2 guys whom I met at the pool area, asking me how I am, so I mentioned that I needed help loading. Without hesitation, they rolled my motorcycle up the ramp, tied it down with the ratchet straps for me. I was ready to roll out of town early in the morning as I didn't want to be stuck in traffic where the construction was 10 miles out of boomtown. I was worried about the ride back for everyone. I was safely home at 1:00 PM Sunday. I actually rode back to our hotel by myself late at night, packed my things in the car, at the right time, when I walked in the parking lot, my neighbors where there to help me out. Thank goodness. I left Reno 9:30, stopped in Boomtown checked my strapping, and Grass Valley for coffee to arrive home safely at 1:00 PM. All in all, I had a great time. Now, that I have pictures of what the roads are like, I can ride up there next year. I wanted to observe, anticipation's, expectations, the whole gamut before I decide to travel on a motorcycle. Going to work Monday - Thursday, have Friday, Saturday off. Next weekend I have Navy duty for FY2010, staring all over again. Shucks, I wish it was over.....Just three more months, I will retire with 21 years of military service, hurray.. Have a nice day... Sis Norma)
